Trick or Treating Pics

We didn't take our camera out Trick or Treating because 3 kids + 1 flashlight = no extra hands. But our neighbor took hers and snapped these pics and was kind enough to send them to us! Thanks Angie!! :) The cute little Care Bear is Angie's daughter!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

SUCCESS! After last year's debacle, we managed to get all 3 kids dressed up AND excited about going Trick or Treating! As you can see, Nathaniel was a baseball player and the twins were black cats! :)
Nate messing around before TOTing!
Nate and Lexi posing for a pic.
Lexi not holding still for me to paint her nose and whiskers on.
Lexi with her nose and whiskers. FYI, no pics of Maddie because we had to hold her down, kicking and screaming just to get some whiskers!!
Nate sitting outside by the pumpkin.
All 3 of the hooligans!
Maddie with the deer in the headlights look!

And the kids did SO well when we went Trick or Treating. They all held our hands and listened to us. They said "Trick or Treat" and by the time we were finished they were saying "Thank You!" without being prompted. We went out with our neighbors and had a great time! All 3 kids got lots of candy but boy were they tired by the time we got home! They did manage to eat 3 pieces of candy each before they crashed. :)

Earlier on Halloween...

Here's another updated pic of Lexi's squash. As you can see, her shiner is darkening up a bit. I think she should've gone as a boxer for Halloween! :)

And in lieu of end of quarter, I made a few treats to send in with Joe. While taking Lexi to the potty, I came back to find this...seems as though someone got hungry.

I found the culprit!

Halloween Treats
....and an update on Lexi's squash!

These are the two treats that I made for Joe to take in to work tomorrow. Ghost brownies and halloween sprinkled Rice Krispies Treats.

And here's Lexi's bruised squash. There's still some puffiness to it, but you can't really tell from the pictures.

Update on Lexi Lou Who

I took these pics a few minutes ago. The swelling has gone down quite a bit but there's still quite the bump. As you can see in the first pic, she's actually getting a little bit of a shiner as well as the mark on her forehead.

The bump

Pumpkin Carving 101

This was the first year we've carved pumpkins with the kids. We were pleasantly surprised when both girls got their hands right in it and helped to clean it out. Nathaniel watched for a while but wanted nothing to do with helping! Here are some pics of the carving and then the finished product.

The Goose Egg Revisited

If you read regularly, you know that a couple of weeks ago Maddie fell and ended up with a monster goose egg. Well today, her other half had one that was probably twice the size. We put the girls into their room for their quiet time (has recently replaced naps - they go to their room for an hour to rest) and within 15 minutes we heard a scream and some crying. As it's not uncommon for them to do that over a toy or a book, we gave it a couple of minutes and then went to investigate. Joe found Lexi with a MASSIVE goose egg that ran from her hair line all the way to her eye brow! And it had already turned purple and was protruding immensely. I thought the one Maddie had recently was the worst it could be, I was mistaken. This one of Lexi's was MUCH worse. So much, in fact, that we loaded her into the car to take her to the hospital...but by the time we got 10 minutes from home, it was already shrinking back down. We called the ER when we got home and they basically confirmed what we'd known. If there was no loss of consciousness, no vomitting, no dizziness or stumbling...then she's fine. And she was. From what we can gather from both Maddie's story and Lexi's, is that it was one of two things. First scenario - she was jumping on her bed and hit her head on the edge of her bed. Second, and most likely, scenario - she was running around, tripped and hit her head on the edge of her closet. Either way, she has a nasty goose egg and bruise to match. I'll take some follow up pics tomorrow.
Momma, my head hurts!
The last pic and this one was taken about 20 minutes after it happened.
This one was taken several hours afterwards. You can see how the bruise color is deepening already.
And a couple of Maddie for good measure. :)

Just some random photos...

Yeah, I know Joey. It's too "washed" for your liking. They all look the same. Yeah, I know. I like it. My blog, my way.
Tried using my settings and no flash. Exposure was great but alas the kids are too fast. Most of the shots are blurred in one capacity or another. Oh well, still some good shots.

Those eyes sparkle even when he's upside down on the sofa!
Lounger!
I couldn't decide which of the next two I liked more...so I'll let you make your own decision.

Natey almost sucking his thumb!
